Overall I loved the dividend tracker and have positioned 1/3 of my portfolio into dividend investing. I am giving this a test trial vs indexing and swing trading which make up the other 2/3. So far so good 🙂 and I will probably allocate more funds towards dividends once I start getting busier at work. Right now I have the capacity to swing trade and I do enjoy it.
For feedback, I felt that it would be good to put this into Sheets and to source data via Google Finance. This way I can type the ticker and all the data would come up related to current price, dividends , ex div date, payment date .

I’ve enjoyed your videos and appreciate the hard work you’ve put into your spreadsheets. My first experience with investing goes back to the mid-80’s, with the mutual funds of that era. I craved every insight I could get from Sir John Templeton, and owned the Growth Fund from 85 until a couple of weeks ago. Without the founder, the fund lost its way and increased the mer from about .75% to somewhere around 2.5% today. Also, the managers who replaced Sir John haven’t lived up to his record. I’ve been looking for the next great value investor focused on Templeton’s principals, ie. buying a diversified portfolio of global stocks, choosing the best companies in the most undervalued markets throughout the world. You seem to be headed in that direction. I think you would enjoy reading about his life, investments and philosophy. John Train has written two books on great value investors, “The Money Masters”, and “The New Money Masters”. I think you would enjoy the brief biographies included.
I owned EIT.UN for a number of years, with a dividend reinvestment plan, and because of the roc element in each month’s dividend, found calculating the book value quite a challenge when I sold. You might mention this to your followers – it would be no issue if held in a registered account. I wouldn’t reinvest these dividends in an open account today – live and learn!
I don’t want to sound like a Cassandra, but do worry that a rising tide lifts all boats, and placing my faith in money managers who didn’t shield me from the crashes in 87, 2000 and 2008, especially 2008, makes me skeptical of escaping the next crash with “wise” money management.

I am a retiree, without a pension, but with a sizeable non-registered Account (50% split between Canadian dividend stocks and high growth Canada/US stocks) that I personally manage. I have not had a clear plan on how to pull $ out to fund my retirement with these assets. I came across Adrian and his passion for dividend investing for income on YouTube. Lifetime FREE updates! I didn’t have to buy this, I could’ve done the research and found stocks on my own, but how many countless days or months of time would it take me? Time is money, and I choose to leisurely spend those months of time.

Hello…I have reviewed the package and have enjoyed your information and portfolio reccommendations. One area of suggestion to really beef up the content and analysis is how to compare one fund against another by analyzing the fundamentals such as p/e, roa, mer, etc. I have my own tool that I use to analyze these numbers so when choosing one fund over another I can see who carries more debt or has better performance. You have developed a good tool but an annex that describes what is a covered call versus a split fund versus a closed fund would make a nice reference tool. Please continue to expand and improve the package as it is great for a beginner. I will continue to follow you on YouTube and would be more than happy to pay extra for a more robust tool. All this takes time and effort but as you grow your legitimacy with a more knowledgeable audience will expand. Good luck and keep up the great work.

Thanks for the feedback Gerard. In depth analysis is not something I do or feel is necessary for a Passive, BUY and HOLD Income-Focused Investor. I don’t do that and I do just fine. That is more for individual stocks, which is not what my strategy is about. In fact, I suggest to avoid single companies altogether.
I have a video that showcases the product from A-Z, so you should have watched it before purchasing the product if this is what you were expecting.
Regarding your comments about an Annex section that describes Covered Calls, SPLIT Funds etc., that’s a good idea but note that I already have videos on my YouTube channel that covers that in detail.

Hi Adrian & Erica, Well thought out and comprehensive analysis. Might be enhanced by including a Risk column (low, medium or high). I would replace the Annual Management Expense with the Management Expense Ratio since that is what the buyer will pay. For example, ZWK has a 0.65 Maximum Annual Management fee but its MER is 0.71 and I would have thought this ETF would have a medium risk rating since it’s dealing with US banks but it’s actually classified as high risk. Also, I would want to know the historical rate of return on each of the portfolios, back tested say for each of the last 10 years. Overall, the info is great especially for new investors and those not very willing to research independently. Thank you both for your product.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge and work in this easy-to-follow spreadsheet; I can barely imagine how much effort and sacrifices you have made to achieve your financial freedom. The spreadsheet cut research time greatly, it’s easy to understand and the samples help a lot to build portfolios.
Last year I started reading some books about investing from authors like Van Tharp and I was able to develop a personal SaaS able to tell me different entry and exit signals from single stocks. Learning about these funds was a new discovery and I plan to adapt my software accordingly. I recently sent a message asking about how you review your positions and short them if needed, but after continuing watching more videos on your channel, I realized you buy and hold “forever”.
Some of the funds dropped significantly between 2020 and 2021 (20% or more), so the only question I have is when to review the portfolio and the percentage of each position? I tend to think the review happens on every spreadsheet version update, so I’ll wait for version 4 and see how it looks like.

Hi Adrian, really cool package that have a lot of ways to invest in dividend stoks , EFT , etc. If you will allow me to suggest you something, it’s will be nice to have in next versions a Risk collumn, to see how risky can be investment. I would encourage anyone to watch the videos, listen and learn from Adrian and certainly do you own reviews of the funds discussed. We did, and we liquidated many positions in mutual funds and pretty much did exactly what Adrian has done resulting in a $70K income from a $700K investment in the Passive income investment method not including any captial gains that we are already enjoying. Monthly distributions offset the fluctuations of the markets and stabilize your returns which we now receive as monthly cash allowing us to use as income or to reinvest for more income. Bottom line, I feel like im being paid handsomely to hold the same stocks we did before, amazing.

I have mixed feelings on the Ultimate DIY package.
First off, let me say that personally, I really didn’t mind paying $60 for the product. I feel that your youtube videos and companion website / Facebook group provides so much free content, the $60 fee seems insignificant. In other words, the $60 is more than a fair cost for everything I learned.
A SINGLE score rating is difficult for me: there are aspects which are great such as the ETF/Closed-End Fund/Split Share listings which would warrant a 4-5.
Where is the HYLD or HDIV/F? I assume these funds weren’t available when this version was done. This is my biggest quibble and I’m wondering if not being up-to-date would warrant a low score. A year between versions might be a stretch. I don’t know what effort goes into creating or maintaining this package, but perhaps updating more often – maybe version 3.1, 3,2 etc?
For me, I used the package along with your recent portfolio reveal downloads. These two items helped me build my new PII portfolio (thank you!).
I would recommend it to others looking to build a portfolio, but I’d recommend it as a PART of a larger system: the videos, the website, the Facebook group.

Great information, however it requires a bit of investing knowledge ( basics of what a ETF is; how it differs from a mutual fund; basics of moving from a managed portfolio to a self managed; how much money is required to get started; how safe are these investments vs the actively managed mutual funds most people have; etc ). I’ve found it useful sitting down with the person and walking thru these questions. As a newer self managed investor, bridging this gap has been the biggest hurdle.

For myself and Adrian, I think it is a wonderful tool that gives the information for those “junkies” like ourselves who live and breath macro economics and passive income trading. The sample portfolios are good and easy to understand for those “non Junkies”. The videos are a great supplement but there is a feeling that somehow it could be made into 2 products. The current one for those who understand and one cheaper product for those who are so called amateurs who just want to know what stocks are good and what the pool they should choose to make their own portfolio. I do not know how this can be done but a 2 tiered product(s) maybe be better. The current format for those who understand and one for beginners. I had high hopes of this document but it does not help at all. I cannot understand most of the stuff and how to navigate through. I have checked a few ETFs and they are not doing well at all and the financials are not good/some holdings are too much in one sector like Financials. Disappointed by the product. Great information!!! Most important information is your comments ie. one of my favourites, and just as important are the comments, ie. It only missed 2 of 200 dividends. Separation of Covered Calls, Split Funds, and Closed End funds allows you to focus on the type of fund you want and saves time. Saves so much time. I am able to trust your comments as it reflects the depth of research and understanding shown in your many Youtube videos. The various sample portfolios presented ie. income, aggressive, growth, etc. show how the portfolios are built and how they achieve the various target yields shown ie., 6%, 8%, 10%. First, the list of terminology is not in alphabetical order and it absolutely makes me crazy. Also, there are a few spelling mistakes sprinkled through the spreadsheets – I know that seems like a very small thing but I want to know the person I’m trusting to teach me about investment is crossing their t’s and dotting their i’s.
